Court Name/Organization: California Southern Probation Office

Overview of the Position: The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Chief Probation Officer. The Chief Probation Officer is directly responsible for the administration and management of the federal probation office in the district. The Court is currently comprised of 13 district judgeships, 11 senior judges, 12 full-time magistrate judges and 1 recalled magistrate judge. The probation office has a total of 220 authorized staff, including probation officers, administrative and clerical support positions. The workload in the district includes supervision of approximately 3,500 offenders, and the preparation of presentence and other investigations for the Court, currently totaling approximately 3,100 per year. The office has employees in three locations in San Diego and Imperial Counties. This is an executive, high-level management position that is under the administrative direction of the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court.
