Job Description:
Job Summary: Oversees the Plant HR Department personnel, functional responsibilities, and projects with a focus on continuously improving processes for accuracy and efficiency.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Leads, plans, and directs the activities involved in the administration of the company's compensation, benefits, paid time off, leave of absence, workers compensation, and other various human resources programs by the Plant HR support staff
2. Selects, plans, assigns, supervises and evaluates the daily work of the Plant HR support staff
3. Ensures compliance with company policies and governmental regulations
4. Provides assistance to managers and supervisors on human resources policies, programs, and procedures to ensure fair and consistent application and employee treatment
5. Coordinates and administers various company human resources programs, as required
6. Performs employee staffing duties, which include recruiting, sourcing, screening, testing, interviewing, and checking references
7. Participates in and/or conducts employee training programs and new hire orientations
8. Reviews Plant HR processes and recommends improvements, where possible
9. Assists in the development of human resources policies and procedures
10. Coordinates and/or assists in overseeing employee relations activities; including plant picnics, employee appreciation days, and activity committee functions
11. Conducts and/or assists with employee counseling and disciplinary actions, including terminations
12. Addresses employee questions and/or issues, and ensures the employees right to exercise the open door policy
13. Coaches and/or mentors the Plant HR Staff, and conducts and/or coordinates their training in order to develop their knowledge and skills in accordance with their overall responsibilities within the department
14. Trains Plant HR support staff on the company HR/Payroll systems
15. Conducts training on the company timekeeping system for the Kronos users in the plant
16. Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
1. Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline
2. 4 to 6 years of experience in Human Resources, to include at least two years in a senior or lead role.
Experience in HR in a manufacturing environment is preferred
3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Knowledge and understanding of labor, compensation, and benefits regulations
b. Ability to positively influence and informally lead other parts of the organization
c. Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills (with attention to detail)
d. Organizational, planning, and delegation skills
e. Computer skills proficiency using standard business software (including MS Office), as well as Kronos Timekeeping and SAP HR/Payroll (or equivalent) systems
f. Ability to maintain confidential information
g. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
h. Leadership and coaching skills
i. Interpersonal skills the ability to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and maintain composure in sensitive, pressure, and confrontational situations
